“These outstanding educators are being honored for their constant achievement to authentic Catholic education,” the Brent Society President Joseph Strada said.

Dr. Clark was introduced at the Awards Dinner by Father Frank Papa, who is a member of the Board of Directors of Seton Home Study School and chaplain at Human Life International. Fr. Papa noted that Seton Home Study School is the 3rd largest Catholic school in the United States, surpassed in enrollment only by DePaul University in Illinois and St. John’s University in New York. Fr. Papa continued, “Though we cannot say that Dr. Clark alone is responsible for the amazing growth and achievements of Seton Home Study School, it could not have been done without her.”

In her remarks, Dr. Clark stated that she believes that home schooling is an historically important movement in the Church, similar to the monastic movement of the Middle Ages. She encouraged families to make their homes into safe havens for the development of the Faith in their children. Fr. Thomas Euteneuer of Human Life International was awarded Brent Society’s Militantis Ecclesiae Miles (Soldier of Church Militant) Award, in honor of his consistent, spirited defense of Church teachings.

The Brent Society is an organization of Catholic men and women in the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia. The society was established in 1980 by Bishop Thomas Welsh and received its name from the Brent family who were the original Catholic settlers in Maryland and Virginia. The Society continues in the Brent family’s rich tradition of public witness and fellowship and in the promotion of spiritual, intellectual, and social opportunities in living the Catholic Faith.
