Seton Graduation 2020

May 23, 2020

The graduation is currently postponed and will not occur in May. If possible, we plan to hold the graduation in either late July or early August at Skyline High School in Front Royal. We will not know until late June whether this new schedule is possible. At that time we will contact all 12th grade students and inform them of the new plans.

Seton Home Study School will hold a high school graduation ceremony on May 23, 2020, in Front Royal, Virginia, at the facilities of Skyline High School.

In order to be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony, students must:

  • be 12th grade Seton Home Study School students
  • be taking sufficient courses in 12th grade to meet graduation requirements
  • have at least three-fourths of quarter grades by the graduation date
  • have completed, or expect to complete, high school work in the 2020 calendar year (or have graduated in June through December of 2019)
  • be current on any tuition or fees owed to Seton
  • register and pay the graduation fee by April 15th, 2020

Students ARE NOT REQUIRED to have completed all courses by the graduation date. Students who have not completed sufficient credits to graduate will receive a blank diploma at the ceremony. A signed diploma will be mailed to the student when studies are completed.

Students must complete three-fourths of their work, but this does not mean three quarters of work in all subjects. For example, a student taking four courses would satisfy the requirement by having final grades in three courses but no grades yet in the other course.

If you are unsure as to your credits or courses, please contact our high school guidance counselor, Nick Marmalejo, either at 540-636-2238 or NMarmalejo@setonhome.org.

The base graduation fee is $120, which covers the cost of the graduate plus four guests. To keep the base fee low, and to try to be as fair to everyone as possible, we have instituted a $15 per-guest fee for more than four guests. Children under 6 years of age are free.

Because the number of graduates continues to grow and space is limited, we must restrict the maximum attendees per graduate to the graduate plus 10 guests. The only exception to this maximum will be immediate family members (graduate’s parents and brothers and sisters). If we have additional space after the April 15th registration deadline, we may allow graduates to bring more guests, but we cannot guarantee that. We regret any inconvenience.

Families who register for the graduation will be contacted with further information.

To register for the graduation, please return the 2020 graduation form, or register online at: https://www.setonhome.org/grad2020/register.php

Note Regarding Coronavirus: It is Seton’s intention to go forward with the 2020 graduation as planned, but we realize that due to possible future restrictions on travel or on large gatherings that it is possible that the graduation will have to be rescheduled. We want to assure families that any registration fees paid for the graduation will be fully refundable up to the date of the graduation.  We encourage families making travel arrangements to be sure that those arrangements are refundable as well.

Testimonials

I like actually being there rather than just receiving your diploma in the mail, like some of my friends. It just seems more personal being at the graduation.
Being all together, and graduating together, and celebrating how far we have come was really amazing. It made you feel like you were part of something important.
The Seton Prom has been a lot of fun—meeting a lot of kids and learning a lot of different types of dance. My family’s having a blast.
Now, having graduated from Seton, I feel confident and knowledgeable enough about my Catholic faith to be able to persevere in all of my future endeavors.
My favorite thing about graduation was finally getting to meet in person all of the wonderful people I knew from Seton’s online forums. The friendships that I have made through Seton have been unforgettable!
