State Funding Status by State

Find out if your state will help cover the cost of your tuition.

Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) & Seton

Many states now offer Education Savings Accounts or similar school-choice funding that families can apply toward Seton tuition and curriculum. Find your state below to see whether Seton currently participates and how to apply your funds.

The information presented on this page includes the best understanding of our Admissions Department as of June 1, 2026. Details constantly change in the state laws and it is possible that in some cases, our understand could be incorrect. This information is not legal advice and should not be construed as such. Please verify any information and consult an attorney or state homeschool organization where necessary. The use of bold green font denotes states which have a universal ESA where Seton is officially approved and all families, in theory, could qualify for state funding to cover their entire Seton tuition.

Alabama

Seton is officially approved as an Education Service Provider in the category of a
“K-12 Private School (Online)”. This listing can be verified on the state’s Choose Act webpage: https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/tax-policy/the-choose-act/ Starting with the 2027-2028 school year, all families become eligible for the state funding which should cover up to $2,000 per child for homeschool students. For the 2026-2027 school year, families making under 300% of the federal poverty line are eligible. Each year, there is only a small window to apply for funding with the state, usually between January and the end of March.

Arizona

Arizona has the first and best universal ESA program in the nation and Seton is officially approved as a “Direct Pay Vendor.” All Seton families should qualify and could receive about $7,000 per year per student (less for Kindergarten).

Arkansas

Arkansas has a universal ESA program that all families should qualify for. Seton is officially approved for Direct Pay through ClassWallet. Families are usually awarded around $7,000 per student in available funding. While Seton can apply funds all year round, the deadline to apply with the state for each academic year is June 1.

Florida

Florida has an excellent ESA program called Step Up For Students where families can register as Personalized Education Program (PEP) students. Families could receive about $8,000 per student in available funding. While there are no income caps, Florida does cap the number of students who can receive funding, so be ready to apply for state approval early. We believe they have hit their cap for 2026 and that applications reopen in February. Seton is officially approved for direct payments using the state EMA platform.

Please leave a comment on the Household Information section of the application stating that you will be submitting payment through the Florida ESA program. After you have submitted your Seton enrollment application, go to the Florida EMA portal and follow these steps:

1. Log in to EMA
2. Click on Marketplace (found on the left side of the page)
3. Click on “Find Providers”
4. Select Student (found in the upper right corner)
5. Under Service Category dropdown choose: Home Education Tuition / Fees
6. Under Service Type dropdown choose: Tuition
7. Under Class Type dropdown choose: Online/Virtual
8. Click Search and scroll down to find Seton Home Study School from the search results
9. Click on Seton Home Study School
10. Select location. Enter Quantity. Click Add To Cart
The quantity chosen in this step is critical. Step Up reserves $570.00 per unit per student. Therefore, the number selected will add $570.00 to the total reserved. For example, selecting 2 will reserve $1,140.00, selecting 3 will reserve $1,710.00, etc. The amount reserved should be greater than the total of the enrollment.
11. Click on the cart icon in the upper right-hand corner. Click “Reserve Funds”

Seton’s Accounting Department will adjust the amount to match the enrollment when we see it appear in our portal. Once Seton receives the funds, Accounting will inform Admissions that the enrollment can be completed and shipped.

Georgia

Georgia currently has a very limited ESA program for newly homeschooling families. Seton is investigating what is involved in the approval process, but is currently not on an approved list.

Indiana

Our understanding is that the Indiana funding program does not extend to homeschoolers and that Seton is not eligible at this time.

Iowa

The Iowa state funding program requires participating schools to either be physically located in the state or be approved by the same regional accrediting agency that covers Iowa. Since Seton is located in a different region and accredited by Middle States, this is not the same region as Iowa and Seton is not eligible as best we can tell.

Missouri

There is a very limited program in Missouri for students with Special Needs that have IEPs and for family in very low-income situations. Those families can be approved through third-party scholarship organizations like the Herzog Tomorrow Foundation. We don’t entirely understand how the program works, but Seton is approved to receive direct payments from these scholarship organizations in ClassWallet.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire now has a universal ESA program that all families should qualify for. Seton is officially approved for Direct Pay through ClassWallet. You can find us listed on the New Hampshire state Scholarship Fund website: https://app.nh.scholarshipfund.org/esa/esa_parent/esa_vendors/3882?active_tab=about-visibility

North Carolina

North Carolina has two programs. One is called ESA+ and is only for students with documented disabilities (requiring an IEP). Seton should qualify for reimbursement for ESA+ students. The second program is called the Opportunity Scholarship and that covers private schools, but not homeschoolers. While Seton is a private school, the NC program only covers schools physically located in the state, so Seton is not eligible for the Opportunity Scholarship program.

South Carolina

South Carolina has an ESA program for students who register with the state as part of their Education Scholarship Trust Fund program. Seton is officially recognized as a Direct Pay service provider by the state. Families can be awarded around $7,500 per student. Due to a cap on the number of students accepted, families should register with the state early.

Tennessee

The Tennessee ESA is limited to schools physically located in the state, so Seton is not eligible.

Texas

Texas has a new Educational Freedom Account program this year. They have three different tiers for organizations and funding. Seton does not qualify as a “school” for this program because we are not physically located in the state. When the program was first announced, we had hopes that we could become a “service provider”. However, Texas has adopted very involved and invasive reporting requirements which are completely unlike any other state ESA program including directly submitting fingerprinting and social security numbers for most of our staff and then ceding authority for them to approve staff members individually. We realize that being recognized as a service provider would have financial benefits for Seton families in the state, but at this time, we do not intend to apply for this status given the scope of the state regulation.

We are actively pursuing approval for the third tier of the program, that of vendor, which could cover the cost of book purchases, and we will continue to follow the situation to see if there are any other paths forward for enrollments. If approved, we might be able to have a separate invoice just for the materials part of the enrollment. We do not have a timeframe on whether vendor status will be granted or how that might affect the enrollment application process. We will keep this page updated.

West Virginia

Seton is officially approved by the West Virginia Hope Scholarship. This ESA program should be available to all families and provides students with up to about $5,000 in funding.

Please leave a comment on the Household Information section of the application stating that you will be paying through the West Virginia Hope Scholarship portal where Seton is listed as an accepted vendor. Once Seton has received the funds through the portal, we can ship out your enrollment. The portal only allows fixed amount payments for each grade level, so Seton cannot accommodate book credits using these funds.
