Position Summary:
Seton Home Study School is seeking a person to oversee it’s High School Theology grading, academic counseling, and curriculum development efforts. This person would need a strong understanding of Catholic Theology to assist parents and high school students enrolled in Seton’s Theology courses. Academic counselors answer questions about course content, assignments, and grading with an end to improving the student experience and encouraging student retention.
Ideal candidates should have experience with online learning, remote learning or homeschooling. Candidates should have a strong personal interest and enthusiasm in Catholic history and theology beyond the degree requirements.
This is a full-time, on-premise position at Seton’s offices in Front Royal, Virginia. We cannot accept candidates seeking remote work for this position.
This is a salaried position with a robust benefits offering.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Answering questions by phone
- Addressing academic questions by email in a timely manner
- Grading tests
- Managing a team of part-time theology graders to ensure clear communication with students and consistent quality in grading
- Training new graders
- Reviewing accusations of plagiarism
- Finding and correcting course and test errors
- Analyzing course survey data
- Helping to create or improve grading rubrics
- Improving existing course content
- Recording instructional videos
- Reviewing new textbook and lesson plan content
- Helping Seton adapt or create online course resources
- Potentially writing new courses
- Coordinating with several Department Heads at Seton including Counseling, Grading, Curriculum Development, Admissions, Special Services, and Online Courses
Requirements and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith, Sacred Scripture, Church History, Thomistic theology, and the Fathers of the Church
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in theology from an orthodox (Newman Guide) Catholic college
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage a small team but also work alone and be self-motivated.
Highly Recommended:
- Familiarity with Seton Home Study School, its mission, curriculum, and services.
- First-hand experience with Catholic homeschooling (either as a homeschooling parent or graduate)
- At least some experience with AI text-generation programs (as it is a growing concern for student plagiarism).
Curriculum Design Specialist
Seton Home Study School is looking for a Full-Time Curriculum Design Specialist to work on premise for 40 hours a week. The job position requires a bachelor’s degree with a strong background in writing, editing, proofing and the ability to learn Adobe InDesign software. Responsibilities include producing and maintaining content for new and pre-existing courses at the elementary and high school levels. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of general homeschooling principles and two to three years of educational experience, developing curricula, editing, proofing, and teaching in PK-12 environments.
