Curriculum Design Specialist

Seton Home Study School is looking for a Full-Time, on-premise (not remote) Curriculum Design Specialist. The job position requires a bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with Adobe InDesign. Responsibilities include developing extensive curricula, tests and exams, and proof reading. The ideal candidate has strong English credentials and prior experience working as a professional writer, editor, and proofer, with teaching and curriculum designing experience in elementary, high school or both, and with the Seton School program. High School History and Theology Counselor

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an orthodox Catholic college in History or Classical Studies

Position Summary

Seton Home Study School is seeking a High School History and Theology Counselor with a strong understanding of U.S. and World History from a Catholic perspective to assist parents and high school students enrolled in Seton’s Social Studies and Theology courses. Academic counselors answer questions about course content, assignments, and grading with an end to improving the student experience and encouraging student retention.

Ideal candidates should have experience with online learning, remote learning or homeschooling. Candidates should have a strong personal interest and enthusiasm in Catholic history beyond their degree requirements. A bachelor’sdegree in History or Classical Studies is required from an orthodox Catholic college (e.g. Christendom, Steubenville, Benedictine, University of Dallas, Ave Maria, etc.).

This is a full-time, on-premise position at Seton’s offices in Front Royal, Virginia. We cannot accept candidates seeking remote work for this position. 

Seton offers a generous compensation package. This is a salaried position with a robust benefits offering. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answering questions by phone
  • Addressing academic questions by email in a timely manner
  • Coordinating with graders to ensure clear communication with students and consistent quality in grading
  • Reviewing accusations of plagiarism, including potential student use of AI, and communicating findings with parents
  • Tracking course and test errors and reporting them to the Curriculum Development Department
  • Analyzing course survey data
  • Helping to create or improve grading rubrics
  • Improving existing course content
  • Reviewing new textbook and lesson plan content
  • Helping Seton adapt or create online course resources

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith, U.S. History, and World History
  • Undergraduate degree in history or classical studies from an orthodox Catholic college
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Conflict resolution skills 

Highly Recommended:

  • Familiarity with Seton Home Study School, its mission, curriculum, and services.
  • First-hand experience with Catholic homeschooling (either as a homeschooling parent or graduate)
  • At least some experience with AI text-generation programs (as it is a growing concern for student plagiarism).
